Common Worship Questions
Where do I go?
Ascension is located on historic Wright Square in downtown Savannah. On Sunday mornings, the large green doors are open toward the square to welcome you. Parking on the square is free on Sundays. With a bulletin the parking garage at State and Drayton Streets is free for up to three hours. The sanctuary is upstairs and can be accessed through stairs or our stain-glass elevator.
When should I arrive for worship?
Services start on Sunday morning at 8:30 & 11:00 a.m., but many people arrive a few minutes before the service to prepare for worship and greet those around them. If you’re running late for worship, don’t worry — just find a seat and join in with the service. We are glad you’re here.
What should I expect when I get there?
As you enter the sanctuary an usher will hand you a bulletin with details about the service. If you let them know you’re visiting, they can help you with any questions you may have.
What should I wear?
You will find a wide variety of clothing choices at Ascension, ranging from casual to formal. The pastors typically wear clerical collars and robes. Dress comfortably. Please know we expect guests and tourists and understand you may need to be dressed casually for the rest of your day.
Is there a nursery?
Children are welcomed and encouraged to attend worship. However, we do have a staffed nursery for children four and younger if the need arises. The nursery is located in the primary education wing on the first floor in the back of the building. It is staffed during Sunday morning worship services and Sunday School.
